This training can help define and sharpen strengths along with uncovering “blind spots” detrimental to personal as well as center effectiveness.

An Experience for the Experienced!

The Institute is primarily for those with some seasoning in leading a life-affirming ministry. The ideal attendee would have three or more years of experience or have attended Heartbeat’s New Director’s Oasis (or similar training) and/or an annual PRC training conference.

The Institute for Center Effectiveness training qualifies toward the Life Affirming Specialist (LAS) designation.

Leadership

This Leadership track will provide a tremendous opportunity for leaders to experience significant change to benefit their leadership and their ministry.

John Rue
I grew up half city-kid & half farmer. I'm an English major from Miami U & MBA from U of Michigan. I'm a business-to-business executive & ordained pastor. I'm 6'4" and married for 25 years to a 4'11" wise & dangerous bride from Kentucky, with two cool kids, a son & daughter.

My professional experience includes 26 years of life coaching, executive leadership, project & process management, business-to-business marketing & communications, quality control & ongoing improvement, application software & systems management, pricing & contract development, third-party partnering, recruiting, direct sales & sales management.

I've worked with outstanding leaders & teams (including volunteer workforces) where it's so magic it's contagious. My passion is helping individuals, marriages, teams, and leaders build excellence, find integration, transform fear & compliance into trust & commitment, and enjoy improved performance in work AND life through a personal & team transformation process.

Advancing Development

The Development track for the Institute for Center Effectiveness will provide a more robust understanding of the nature and ministry of development. Anyone with responsibility for donor development would benefit from this advanced training. A seasoned McConkey-Johnston development consultant will go beyond established elementary event planning to explore:

• Donor dynamics
• Giving strategies
• Revenue evaluation
• Relationship building
• and more!

The Development track presents a more robust understanding of the nature and ministry of development. Anyone with direct responsibility for donor development would benefit from this advanced training.

*Price per person for early registration, double occupancy. Heartbeat will coordinate roommates. Single occupancy rooms available starting at $1,175. Heartbeat will make your hotel sleeping arrangements based upon your registration. Please do not contact the hotel directly. Lodging is available on a first come, first serve basis. If you register after the Early Bird deadline, on-site lodging accommodations may not be available. Register early to guarantee a room.

Cancellation Policy

Full refunds may be issued until 12:00 Midnight EST November 23, 2009. A 50% refund is available from 12:00 Midnight EST November 24 – November 30, 2009 12:00 Midnight. No refunds will be issued past 12:00 Midnight November 30, 2009.

Travel Tips: Training Schedule

• Monday
  • Please plan to arrive on-site no later than 4:30 p.m. to check into the hotel and find your hotel room.
  • 5 p.m. Program starts with dinner and orientation & health assessment.

• Tuesday-Thursday
  • Daily Sessions - 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Friday
  • Morning session
  • Optional Lunch
  • Please plan to depart no earlier than 2:00 p.m. The hotel's shuttle requires you to be at the airport 2 hours before your flight, so if you have a flight scheduled for 1:00 p.m., you will miss part of the morning session.

Additional Room Nights are available at $150/night plus tax. This cost does not include meals. Please plan accordingly.

Heartbeat Remembers Larry Allen

All of you who were involved in our Institute in the past three years and had a chance to experience Larry’s passion for our work as he walked in his own “opus” of building leaders. For those that were on the Leadership side of the Institute you’ll find familiar the Thoreau quote he referenced often, “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.” Larry was not among them. His heart for leaders, leadership and growing upward and inward was a challenge to each of us.
