This course is designed to be a refresher in limited obstetrical skills while also designed to be an introduction to scanning within the pro-life movement.  As a participant you may feel extremely confident in the technical aspect of the scan, however the pro-life movement may be new.  
The didactic portion of the training is composed of nine modules appropriate for sonographers on important topics like ultrasound physics, first-trimester scanning, legal and ethical questions, and more. Available in a convenient and easily accessible on-demand format, the didactic portions of the training can be completed on your own schedule over a six-month period.

This course is designed for RDMS only. No CMEs or CEUs are offered for this training.

Module I: The Power of Seeing
Explain the unique role of ultrasound in Pregnancy Care Centers.
Discuss the reality of scanning limited obstetrical ultrasounds.
Identify areas in which ultrasound may benefit at-risk clients.

Module II: Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound for the Sonographer 
Explain the unique role of Sonographers and Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound.
Discuss the registrants and associations in ultrasound and the pro-life movement.
Briefly explain the roles within a  Pregnancy Center.

 
Module III: The Physics of Ultrasound
Review the artifacts of ultrasound physics.
Utilize and manipulate machine parameters to increase image quality.
Explain quality analysis and the imagers' role.
 
Module IV: Pelvic and Obstetrical Anatomy
Discuss basic pelvic anatomy and how it relates to first-trimester obstetrical scanning.
Identify the female reproductive system sonographically.
Discuss the basic first-trimester obstetrical structures imaged by ultrasound in a limited ultrasound exam.
 
Module V: Obstetrical Ultrasound
Discuss the basics of first-trimester scanning.
Explain how to measure Gestational Sac Diameter (GSD) and Crown-Rump-Length (CRL).
Explain the methods utilized to obtain fetal heart tracings.
Discuss the basics of second and third-trimester scanning.

Review most common abnormalities in first-trimester scanning.
Explain normal variants that may be encountered in obstetrical scanning.
Identify common abnormalities encountered in obstetrical scanning.
 
Module VII: Abortion Pill Reversal and Ultrasound
Recognize the reality of chemical abortions.
Recognize the difference between the morning-after pill and the abortion pill.
Discuss the most common method of chemical abortions.
Discuss the medical history differences in APR clients.
Discuss the possible ultrasound images encountered.
 
Module VIII: Legal and Ethical Issues
